These big cargo ships were all down the banks of the river - either it was out of season for cargo, or my impression was that they'd been abandoned for a few years but now were being refurbished for use again. Perhaps the petrol prices have made them economical again - there're sure plenty of rivers for them to sail on in Vietnam.
