A short drive North of Queenstown (through some incredible mountain gorges) is the stunning Lake Wanaka and adjacent Wanaka town. We only stopped here for a quick bite of lunch, but it was so beautiful we ended up walking half-way round the lake. Of course after that we *had* to adjourn to the nearby pub for a quick pint before continuing to our destination.
