NEMO is a science centre, aimed at kids, with lots of hands-on activities. It's actually pretty cool. A word of advice, though: go early, if possible, 'cos half the exhibits have been wrecked by the end of the day. And if you have a headache, don't go at all (excited kids + echoing warehouse structure = one heck of a lot of noise!)
The boat outside the building is a replica of the Dutch East Indian Company ship the 'Amsterdam' which was reconstructed entirely by volunteer unemployed persons... who apparently had a lot of ship-building knowledge somehow.
